So, last night was actually a lot of fun. For those of you who don't know, we had a huge blow-out party in our campus center. (Like Deg, but smaller). A lot of residents showed up, all in costume, and all the RD's had to be there. We were dressed up as well. One guy was a gypsy woman (i had nightmares from it), two came as a pair of sandals, one was marilin monroe, and I was a pirate. I had transformed my wheelchair into a ship. I had two flags, an anchor, buried treasure, and then a crest that was designed for the dorm on the back. There was a contest for the RD's costumes and......................I WON!!!!!!! I put way too much time into my costumes.....
So, below are the pictures of my costume, as well as a few choice residents. The cut wouldn't work for some reason, so it'll look longer than it is. Enjoy!

Me in my pirate garb! Arg.....The flag to the left of my head says "Time flies when having RUM"

My fellow RD being Mrs. Monroe. His greatest fear last night? He didn't know how to take make-up off. Dude...it's called soap and water....

One of my residents as a hula girl. If we had frats...he would so be a member by now....

Another RD as.....Puss! in boots! His little cat ears, tail, and nose were adorable! And he's from guatemala so he's already got the accent. ;-P
Last, but not least, my favorite group of resident! I love these guys. If you are a true fan and watched the show as a kid, then you'll know all these characters. And yes....the "one that doesn't seem to belong" is supposed to be in the picture. You have to find him!

(Click on picture to enlarge. Trust me...it's worth it....)

So...because I'm made of win, I managed to get my car stuck in the biggest pit of mud I've ever seen. I was on my way to a jail to run a domestic violence group, when I suddenly noticed that my TomTom had navigated me right into a forest. Once I noticed how muddy and gross it was, I backed-up. Correction: I attempted to back up. Instead, I slid even further forward and wedged myself in. The mud was so high that I couldn't even open my car doors.
It took AAA three hours to arrive on scene and say that they couldnt' come get me because THEIR car would get stuck. The guys saying "Huh, it is muddy" did not help my mood. However, the other guy (both nice and cute) offered to call his friend with a big truck that should do the job. But he wasn't sure how much his friend would want in return. So, I called a classmate who lived near by and practically drives a tank. She came and pulled me out!
It was really scary, actually, which I wasn't expecting. However, I'm sure I'll laugh at the whole thing. Tomorrow. Or perhaps next week...... And now I"m crazy behind in my work. Awesome.
For the meme:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal...
5. ...along with these instructions.
"That sounded pretty good and might even be the truth." From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris.
(I am now done with book 8! Only one more to go, and this one I don't have. Time to ILL)

Who wants to hear about MY flippin' day?!?!?!?!?!???!!!!!!!!!! Intrigued right? Well, it started out fine. I worked on my novel this morning, then went to class. It was a shortened class that started with a scavenger hunt that ended in treats! Each snack represented one person in the class. I was alphabets cereal, because I work with little kids and I'm a writer. I thought it was cute. Then all fun stopped.
First, I found out that I have, not one, but TWO suicidal students in my building. Just....amazing fun. But I can't let them know that I know, which makes helping them so much easier. Then, I had to go to a meeting with my facilities manager for my building. Our washers stopped working a week ago. No one has been able to do laundry; my residents are starting to smell. And I"m not exactly powder fresh either. The manager says it will be AT LEAST another week until all is fixed. I could have strangled him then.
Next, I had class for my practicum and we talked about certification for counselors. This was nice because I got to learn about what is required for me to be certified in PA. Then, she told the class that we have a new requirement for the program. We have to pass ANOTHER test called the NCE. It's supposidly incredibly hard. NO ONE that took it last year passed; and we have to keep taking it until we do get a passing grade. The best part of all this? Each time you take the test, it costs 295 DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you shittin' me!!!!!!!!!!!! Do I crap gold? Anyone wanna buy a kidney? I may sell both.....
Then, I got back to my building to find that one of my residents kicked his door in. It looks like he killed the damn thing. I provide a picture or two below. I.....I wanna go back to the Ricky-room. I got so frustrated with the money leeching that I almost cried. No kidding. Damn them all...........And my internship looks like it's getting shitty. But I'm too angry to talk about that now.........

I really hate needles with every fiber of my being. But Doctors' order dictates that I have shots every two weeks, and I obey. But this week, they decided to fuck me over. I got my three allergy shots this morning, which is nothing new. But literally within five minutes my throat closed up, my chest tightened, and I felt dizzy. I was having a BAD reaction to the stuff they forced into my body. I hate that.
I've had this before, but only once or twice. So I got hooked up to a breathing thing (like the one I used to have in the dorm when I got really sick). I breathed through that for about an hour, and they gave me a shot of epi. So, I am currently sitting in my room attempting to sit still. This shit makes me feel like I'm about to jump out of my skin! I didn't go to class because of it.
*Sigh*. I'm fine now; it's just annoying. So I thought I'd share my annoyance with all of you! don't you miss the Ricky hospital visits? I know I do.....NOT.
I'm just looking forward to this weekend and trying it ignore all else. I love it when things randomly fall into place and make me super excited!!!!

Hello all! Okay, so I've been absent from the cyber world for a while, but I thought I'd risk the wait to post today. I sat for over half an hour, waiting for LJ to upload so that I could say HELLO!
I miss looking at LJ 5 times a day and stalking you all. However, a thought I could give a breif update before disappearing again.
I am home for the summer, and am once again working for the Muckdogs. This time our uniforms have the team logo on them, so I'll have to share that with you all at some point. I am supervisor of picnics and assistant supervisor of concessions. All this 'cause I got me a degree! The work sort of sucks, but the concessions employees are better this year. So at least I have semi-friends at work this time.
Also, I got my quals scores back this morning! I have texted most of you, but not all. So, for those who haven't heard................I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which means I don't have to go back this summer and defend any of my answers verbally in front of a panel! Which is awesome, because that is the one thing that I dreaded. I can do the witty conversations, or the sarcastic insults of Shaffer. But otherwise, I feel much more confident in writing, rather than verbal.
So....that's about it for now! Hopefully I can see you all at some point this summer! My house is always open, though I know that we're all busy with our own jobs and lives. Just give me advanced notice, so that I can ask for time off! Byes!!!!!!!!!

Current Music: Undergrads talking...why are they still here....?
Wow....two posts in three days. That's pretty good for me....
Anyway...for some reason the drama in the RD circle is more extreme then the drama with the undergrads. Which really should not be the case. But, long story short, one of the RDs, who is 'affectionately' called Big Nasty decided it would be a wonderful idea to punch someone in the face. And not just anyone, but the guy that I had a crush on a while ago and is one of my closest friends here. (no where near you all, but I'll take what I can get :) )
So....now she's on facebook, mad that we aren't defending her. Um....he didn't even provoke her. He argued with her husband, and then the two men made up. Then she comes over and pulls shit while he and I are on the dance floor at the bar. Crazy ragin' bitch!
It's just....so stupid. Why would she think that was a good idea?!?!?!?????!???!?????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! If anyone can see the logic in this, please let me know. And if anyone wants more details, I'll tell them over the phone. Just....garg. That's all I gotta say. garg.

Oh dear lord.....the Quals are over!!!!!!!! And for those of you who don't know, Quals is short for qualification exams. Basically, it was two days of typing on a computer, answering questions about counseling. And, if I fail any one question, then I have come back to campus and defend it before a panel. And, if I fail THAT, then I get kicked out of the program. Which means that I would have just wasted a year of my life and bunches of money.....
So I'm not gonna think about that option.....I only think of passing.
I'd rather not do the verbal, but I will if I have to.
As for the rest of this month? I get to read books that have nothing to do with school; watch bunches of TV without feeling guilty; and finish up a short story I started months again. I also have to finish checking out my dorms, but that shouldn't take more than a day or so. Especially if I really focus.
Hells yeah............I be done bitches!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited that I did a little dance after the last session of the test let out. A happy dance of done-ness!

1. Go to wikipedia. Hit "Random article." The first random article will be the name of your band.
2. Go to wikiquote. Hit "Random page." The last four or five words of the last quote on the page will be the title of your first album.
3. Go to flickr. Hit "Explore Last 7 Days Interesting." The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4. Use photoshop or something similar to edit it together, and post it.

So.....this is a bit late in posting, but I figured I'd share my outrage with all of you. Well...more annoyed than outraged, but it'll all make sense in a minute.
So, I went out drinking on Friday. And I didn't pay for a single drink, thank you very much! However, I had a tad more than I usually would. So, as I had drove to the bar, I decided to not drive home. It is only a 7 or 8 minute walk, but it was cold, so I had my friend come and pick me up. She doesn't sleep.
Anyway, she drove me home and I slept in the next morning. Then, I walked down to pick up my car. And what did I find, kindly placed on my windshield? That's right....a ticket. MY FIRST TICKET EVER!!!! Apparently, there is no parking from 2 AM to 6AM within the village of Alfred. Did I know this? No. Did anyone tell me? No. Was there a sign on the street, stating this rule?
NO!
So, I had to pay the ticket, because I don't have time to go and argue at the courthouse. Plus, my court date would be during my internship in a few weeks. .......I am not overly pleased..........
And long story short? What did we learn from this experience? Obviously next time I drive to a bar and drink all night, I'll be driving home!!! I won't actually, but that's basically the message that the cops are sending. Don't want a ticket? Then drive intoxicated!!!!! What's an ex-SPARC member to do?

Yes...I am alive. Grad. school is crazy and so filled with drama that I can hardly breath!!!!!!!! Needless to say, it is past my bedtime and the drama is too long to get into. However, I will hit the highlights.
---First, why do people mistake me for being more mature than I am? I mean....I'm the youngest. They should be trying to shield me from the darkness in the world. Needless to say, I was unaware of two collegues extra-cirricular "activities." I am shocked and not sure how to react at this point in time.
---One of my friends is being a dick. And I want to hit him. Really hard. Prefereably in the nuts. Sometimes, jokes are taken too far, and they just aren't funny anymore.
---Let's see.....what else? Classes have started, and I begin my intership tomorrow. Not really drama, but news nonetheless.
---Lastly....some happy news! I have a crush on a guy. (I will point him out if anyone ever visits me) He is in my program, as they are the few that are not off-limits. He is real sweet and funny. And I think he might like me back! But I dont' want to get my hopes up too high. However he does flirt with me, and has sent some flirty/like worthy text messages. I'll update whomever calls. So...I think I'm flirting back. I don't fully know what I'm doing.
So.......that is a QUICK update, as it is late and I have just finished watching LOST and will now go to bed. So much, and yet nothing, happened in the two hour episode. I enjoyed it however. I am liking Miles more and more as the series goes on. AND, the cherry on top? Sawyer was shirtless for most of the first hour. Always a good thing. ;-P
I will try to update more often.....but school beckons.....

Okay, so a brief backstory before I dive into my night of fright. For one of my classes, I have to go and have 3 multicultural experiences. Which, is easier said than done. See, most of the people in my class said that they'd never seen a person of color before they went to undergrad. I was frightened and shocked, as I'm sure most of you are right now. So, finding cultural things for them that they've never seen/experienced? EASY!!!! It is much harder for me.
So, tonight I decided to go and be multicultural! Jon (my RD friend) and I heard about a spirit healer in a near-by town. We rounded up a few more friends and went to experience it. Now, when I heard spirit healer, I thought of someone cleaning my aura. I went old world with it. I was very wrong. We pulled up in front of a large, really beautiful building, with a cross on top. My heart sank right then and there. But I was still excited.
( Oh....how wrong I was to be excited.... )

So, after being yelled at by SuperShaff for not posting often enough, I have decided to write a small post. I will reassure everyone, that I do visit LJ everyday. Generally in the morning when I am eating Frosted Flakes and listening to podcasts. I just don't usually have the time to sit and write a post. Like right now, I should be writing a rambling paper about my family's disfunctions. But I don't wanna! I wanna sleep in, and watch anime, and eat ice cream in bed. I want to have time off!!!! Weekends are loaded with residents, and weekdays are for classes. As well as residents. Sigh....
So, my big excitement last week was with my car. Apparently, some students thought it would be HILARIOUS to break the back window to my car. It was completely gone. My car was full of glass, all the way up to the windshield. And what did my supervisor have to say about this event? "oh-ho-ho. Silly residents." I flipped out, to put it lightly. I would have made Hardin proud, let me tell you. Many bon mots, as he would say.
But, the car is now fixed, and the Yoda figure is fine. But i did have to drive home without a back window. It was cold. And I turned my ipod up exceptionally loud. "Wicked" for all to hear! Then ....."we be rollin'." For some reason, made me think of my roommie. NOt sure why......
So, yes, that is my big excitement. Now I am solely looking forward to homecoming. Desperately waiting for it! And BJs! And the gang! AND JESS!!!!!!! ;-P

Well, it seems that the battle has ended! I apologize for the non-universal characters. But, I really wanted to see who would win!
So, the decision has been reached! All are in agreement that the winner is Captain Jack Harkness! I believe that the award for the best scenario goes to Otakumeep again! The fangirl in me could not deny her the victory. However, Lisa was a close second for her "You should know I prefer brunettes." line.

My psychology testing class ended early, so........I'm posting for you lovely people! I am at grad. school, I am an RD, AND I've started classes. I have now attended three classes, and I have another one in just under an hour. However, these last three weeks, I haven't had any down time. You would think that supervising a dorm wouldn't be THAT difficult. Yell at some kids, make sure the building is fixed and clean, right? WRONG!!!! My job is one meeting after another! I have weekly meetings with my RA's (3 per week), a staff meeting each week, a Residence Life staff meeting (2 hours long in the morning!), a one-on-one meeting with my supervisor (who has an accent, a lisp, AND mumbles). I also have classes during the day, some of which require me to meet with a partner at least 2 hours a week outside of class.
And then there is the copious amounts of reading that I'm required to do. Some of it is interesting, but of course some of it is not. Textbooks were not made for pleasure reading. I have lots of writing to do as well. Mostly reflection papers, a bit Zoller-esque. And I have to meet with residents, and hold academic interventions and judicials. I am basically mother/father/judge/jury/and babysitter for these students.
